My Baby Loves Babies!

My Little H has always been outgoing and adventurous. He finds trouble wherever it may hide, and he's always been a little stubborn. Big H is tenderhearted and easy going. If he gets in trouble it's usually because he joined in on the fun with his brother- or because he started to hit and throw a tantrum. Big H also had a love for animals- real and stuffed toys. I would have picked Big H to be my baby loving boy. But I was wrong.

It all started when my nephew was born in January. Little H was always looking in his car seat. Then came our Baby M and Little H wanted to hold him, feed him and give him his binky. He's always helping mom take care of him. He pats his back like he sees mom do, and he rubs his head when cries. On occasion you'll see him rocking the car seat.

It was then that Craig and I decided to ask Santa to bring Little H a baby doll for Christmas.

Well a few days later My mom brought some of my old toys over and Little H pulled out this doll. He carried it around all day. It even took a bath with him. I got tired of looking at a naked baby so I went and got a Preemie onesie for it to wear. It now resides in Little H's bed. Isn't that just the cutest thing you have ever seen?

Little H reminds me of my brother. Stubborn and hard headed, but compassionate to a fault!

Meet Ruby!

You may be thinking one of two things: "Why aren't there photos of the dog?" or "Why is she posting about a dog that we all know she has?"

Actually this is a post about this "Ruby"

This "Ruby" was swiped off the shelves at Shopko while mom was looking for window shades. Big H's eyes got big as he picked it up and happily exclaimed "Ruby! Ruby!"

Then, to put the cherry on top of the cuteness cake, he snuggled it close to his chest and gave me a huge smile.

The fact is that this is not an unusual sight. Every stuffed animal gets this loving adoration from Big H- and it also gets named "Ruby". But didn't mean that this emotional pregnant mom didn't continue to pace around the store, trying to stall while I thought up a plan to take away the "Ruby".

Perhaps a bribe with candy? Nah! It was close to lunch time and it's hard enough to get them to eat without a tummy full of sweets. Take it away and let him cry while we make our way to the car? That would probably have been the best choice, but my pregnant heart could not take it.

The toy was just the right price: cheap enough for buying it not to be totally ridiculous, but expensive enough for me to feel a twinge of guilt for spending so frivolously. Craig called me while I debated in my head, and I asked him if I could just buy the Giraffe. He said it was fine, so we walked out of the store with a new "Ruby".

For days the "Ruby" never left his side. He'd go to sleep with it, wake up with it in his hand and he'd carry it all through the house- and to the doctors office. He even shared it with his brother who also happens to be quite fond of it.

Sadly this "Ruby" is out of commission for the week because it happened to be in the same bed as the poopy diaper Big H managed to take off the other day.

I'm sure there will be untold excitement when Big H is reunited with his "Ruby".

What Better Name for a Dog

We found this stuffed dog in a parking lot when I was pregnant with the boys, and my pregnant emotions persuaded me to take it home and wash it. Now it's become one of the toys that we are trying to turn into security objects for the boys. Both boys like the dog, but Big H had a bear that he liked to so I gave Little H the dog. But after this sweet little display how could I not let Big H have the dog.

As it turns out all toy- stuffed or plastic- animals are Ruby. But I still let him have the dog. Little H isn't really taking to security items, but Big H is. He hangs on to blankets, stuffed animals, etc. He likes to feel secure.

P.S. For those that don't know our little mini dachshund is named Ruby.

We Go Out Walking. . .After Breakfast. . .

These two little stink bugs are so cute as they walk down the street with they're little toys. They love it! And they just take off without a care in the world. Sometimes it makes me a little nervous because one will get so far ahead and the other will get stuck. But we always manage to make it back alive. Plus Craig was there this time to offer some assistance in baby watching.

Little H likes to stop and smell the roses. He investigates everything, and he found a wood chip that we could not leave behind. I showed him that there's a fancy little trunk on his walker he can put it in.

Big H is on the go. He takes off and doesn't look back. You can hardly get him to turn around to go back home.

We had a hard time getting Little H to walk all the way home.

Nowadays the walking toys are getting less and less necessary.

Fun in the Yard!

I've been excited to see how the boys would react to a little splash pool in the yard. It was a little cold to get in, but I still thought they would splash around for a good while.

Big H was great about it. It kept him busy for a good while.

I even put him in the pool and he was fine!

His brother on the other hand. . .

He kept crawling in the dirt and mud. It made what was supposed to be a relaxing moment in the back yard more stress then it was worth.

Craig and I thought it was was strange that little H wasn't into the pool, but we knew he loved slides. So we brought over a slide thinking he'd like the idea of a soft, splashy landing.

No such luck! He threw a fit that lasted a good hour or so.

The next day my children kept crawling away while I tried to sit outside and enjoy the weather in the front yard. I once again turned to slide to try and keep them at bay.

Once again it was a huge hit with Big H. He was climbing up and sliding down. He loved it!

But Little H not so much. This is the same kid who, on Sunday, was throwing himself down the slide so fast Craig barely had time to position himself to catch him at the bottom.

Little H is usually my thrill seeker. Lets hope this is just a short phase.

October 3, 2009: Brotherly Love

The boys got these cute toy lambs from their Aunt M, who lives in Colorado.

Here's Big H.

Here's Little H.

Here's a picture of both of them together

Here's another picture of. . .wait a second. . .

September 30, 2009: There Just Aren't Enough Bouncy Horses to go Around

To: Little H and Big H

Happy 6 month! Love: Mom and Dad

On Wednesday we were finally able to get the boys their present for turning 6 months old. Of course, them turning 6 months old was just a handy excuse. The real reason we bought the present was because there's only one bouncy horse and two babies. It seemed whoever was in the horse was riding high leaving the other baby to mope on the floor with the regular toys.

The boys love there new toy! Especially little H.

July 27 through 30, 2009: That's Just The Way It Is

I don't know how many times I've requested for things to just slow down, but they never do. I guess I'll have to get used to it.

Here's a summary of our week of parties, new toys and house shopping.

Big H continues to have teething woes. Giving him a damp cloth to chew on is the best solution I've come up with so far.

Big H just loves his Daddy! He's so happy when Daddy comes home.

You should have seen him at church on Sunday. It was the sweetest thing! Craig was teaching and Big H was trying so hard to get his attention. He'd talk a little and then he'd fling his arms about. Big H, not Craig. It was adorable!

Tuesday was one of our nephew's birthdays. He turned 5. He was so excited for his party!

Happy Birthday Big P!

Little H playing with a balloon.

Big H loved watching the boys play with those balloons. He was laughing his head off

I normally love any excuse to eat that delicious Costco cake, but I had to sit out this time. I had spent all night- or morning technically- battling the 24 flu. I honestly would rather go through labor, and have a c-section again, than deal with the 24 hour flu, or food poisoning I guess. I'm never quite sure what to call it. I just know it is my worst enemy.

Wednesday was totally up in the air. I was feeling better, and my mom had the day off, so we decided to get lunch and then, hopefully, end up in the pool. Well we ended up: babysitting for my SIL, eating lunch, running to stores looking for teething items, picking up my car and running to more stores looking for teething items. We never made it to the pool, but I got some fun new stuff for the boys, and some things for me.

The boys got this fancy new toy. I would have liked to get them one that has stuff they can kick too, but these things get expensive fast.

They must like it because I can't get them to look at me.

Now they're bored, so they'll look at me. I even get a smile!

We bought a booster seat to see how it would work out. This is Big H's way of telling me he needs a little more practice.

The boys got some new outfits because they were on sale for a very good price.

And finally, after searching and searching, I found a decently priced bed set, that matches my curtains.

Today the boys and I played with our new toys, and Craig and I found out that our housing search must indeed go on. *Sigh* The worst part was the guy we had to go through to get approved was not too kind with the rejection. I kind of chewed him out. I don't know if he'll keep the piece of my mind I tried to give him, but he'll at least have something to talk about at dinner ;)

You don't needlessly stress out a mom with twins. Just a fair warning ;)
