Happy Halloween!

Before there was Twilight there was Tanz Der Vampire the musical. Though it saw much success in foreign lands it was a major flop in the states do to the fact that they turned it into a campy musical comedy. The songwriter even left during the production process because he was so enraged with what they had done.

I know everyone isn't a musical lover, and listening to songs in a foreign tongue isn't always enjoyable, but you should at least listen until you recognize the song- which you will- because it's awesome when you realize what they are singing.



Yes the man who wrote the score is they same man who brought you that famous Bonnie Tyler hit!

I can't believe my eyes!

Shortly after Grandma Dendra rejoined us up North she was greeted with a little surprise!

A lovely snow storm in October!

I couldn't believe it! I can't remember the last time it snowed in October.




The boys loved it. It's funny to know this isn't their first experience with snow, but to them it kind of is.



And each year they'll understand and enjoy it more and more- Until they have to drive in it :)

I love snow around this time of year because it gets me all giddy and excited for the Holidays. It was a great reminder that it is almost Christmas Music time! I start listening the 1st of November. I see no harm in prolonging the Christmas Celebration. It's such a wonderful time of year! And now that I'm older I can't see how celebrating the spirit of Christmas earlier can take away from the spirit of Thanksgiving.

Happy Snow falls to all! No matter how surprising or unwanted they may be!

At first I thought, "Cher was in West Side Story? I hope she didn't play Maria."

Then I thought, "Oh she played Anita. That would be a good role for her."

Then I thought, "That Tony has a good voice!"

And then I figured out what was going on.

DragonHeart - To the Stars

I just had to share this simply because I have been searching for this song forever. I can't believe it was right there under my nose this whole time. I have loved this song my whole life and have hummed the tune for as long as I can remember. Yet all I knew of the song was that it was on a movie trailer here and there. I couldn't even remember what movie trailers those were. One night of having to stay up and do laundry finally led me to search it out.

June 24, 2010: Thursday Night is Date Night!

I can't explain the excitement that rushed over me as I opened up The Scera's summer schedule and saw that Linda Eder- One of my all time favorite singers next to Judy Garland- would be putting a concert on at the outdoor theater. I could barely control my fingers as I texted Craig, "Linda Eder is coming to the Scera! We have to go!"

These moments have become rare for me. I've become less passionate about theater and the arts since I worked at Tuacahn- and since I became a mom. Shows come and go and the ones that I would have given me that giddiness in my tummy, and that rush to buy tickets- or audition for- no matter what, no longer phase me. I just think, "I'd like to go see that, but we don't have the time or the money- or the babysitter :)" I was actually amazed to find how excited I was at the thought of seeing her in concert because things like this have just become less important to me since marriage.

Perhaps it's because I've been trying to make it to one of her concerts for years. Or maybe it's because she is one of the best kept secrets out there- not many have heard of her but she has a beautifully powerful voice and continues to amaze me with each song. Or maybe it's because she's a singer who seems to share the same liking for music that I do- she is also a Judy Garland fan and has even released a tribute album.



Well Craig got me the tickets, and the day finally came last Thursday and I was way excited! When we got there I was shocked to find that there was no where to park. The lots and streets were full. But we got in, we got our seats and we sat down to enjoy a wonderful evening. Everyone loved the show. They loved it so much she even did an encore performance- I didn't know they still did that. It was a great night!



Thanks to my parents for babysitting and letting Craig and I go on a date. We don't go very often, but it sure was nice to get out as a couple.

August 20 through the 30th, 2009: Moving, Mayhem and more

I'm sure you're not surprised to hear that we have been quite busy this last week and a half-ish.

Craig- Switched to four tens, and now has Monday's off. He leaves for work at 5:00 in the morning now.

Tricia- Started work on the 20th. It doesn't look like I'll be able to keep working though. I do still enjoy my job, and I find myself enjoying my boys more too, but it's just too hard with Craig working during the day. I'm trying to hang in there for another month. My sister-in-law is watching the boys and says that if I quit at the end of September that should work good for them.

The boys- Have started to show a liking for country music. Mostly for Garth Brooks. I'm not even joking or embellishing here. They even have their favorite songs. Little H loves "The River" and "When You Come Back to Me Again", but when "Beer Run" comes on he lets you know he does not approve. Big H loves "Standing Outside the Fire" and "American Honky Tonk Bar Association". I swear I'm telling the truth. Though this pattern may change in a week or so, you put these songs on whenever they get fussy and they quiet right down.



Big H- Has finally gotten past the screaming phase and is now his lovable and enjoyable self. He even goes right down for naps without any complaint- for the most part.



Little H- Has entered the screaming stage. We thought Big H was bad, but we had no idea.

The Family- Finally got insurance set back up, and we are now trying to get to all those much needed appointments. The boys are going to the doc tomorrow and they will probably get more shots :(

We cleaned up the playground at the apartments on Saturday. My dad came and helped and we finally got it looking fairly decent. This is one of the few projects we've tried to have finished before we move.

We're all getting ready and set to move out this week. Hopefully we can get most of it done on Monday.

We had a birthday Party for my brother, Brady, on Saturday.





We all had fun swimming in the pool and eating hot dogs, hamburgers and cheesecake yum!

May 18, 2009: "Miss Saigon" at The Pioneer Theatre

On Saturday I finally got the privilege of seeing "Miss Saigon," a musical based on the opera "Madam Butterfly." My loving husband got me tickets, to this once in a lifetime event, for our anniversary. I hope those of you that have wanted the chance to see this musical masterpiece took it. This play will probably not be done in Utah again,-- unless, perhaps, The Egyptian Theatre up in Park City picks it up-- not only because of expenses, but also because of sexual themes and crude language. To me it is no more offensive than Les Miserables, which is consequently written by the same composer and lyricist, but people seem to be a little less forgiving when it comes to Miss Saigon. Perhaps it has to do with the controversy of the Viet Nam War, or maybe its just that Miss Saigon has less heroic tragic themes. Who knows? I, myself, love it. I think it is pure genuis. The score is powerful and moving, and the story is beautifully tragic. To me the men behind this musical captured the tragedy that is the Viet Nam war, but do not insult those who sacrificed. I could probably talk about it for hours, but I won't because some may find it boring. Just know if you get a chance to see this show I highly reccomend that you do.
