May 3, 2010: A Hiking We Will Go!

OK so it's not really Hiking. I just wanted to get out, and the closest thing to hiking I felt I could do was walk up the Provo River Trail to one of the parks up Provo Canyon. This isn't my favorite park up that way, but it was close, and it had a playground to keep the nephew happy.

We all enjoyed being outdoors, and wondered around the park a bit.

We packed a yummy picnic dinner!

We tried to get the twins to say hi to there brother. They didn't cooperate so well.

On the way back we saw some rabbits. Can you see the rabbit in this photo?

My nephew loved exploring the side trails. I distracted him with them so he would stop bugging Craig :)

He also kept asking about this pump house, so I told him I'd take his picture in front of it. It's that building way up on the mountain above his head.

July 25, 2009: Sundance

On Saturday, after running some errands and dealing with some drama, Craig and I took the boys up to Sundance so Craig could play with his camera.

There were a lot of people up there. I guess everyone headed to the mountains for the weekend to escape the heat. Luckily some of those people offered to take a family pic for us.

After an hour or so of walking around, without a stroller, we decided to look into riding the ski lift. They said the boys were good to go, so we headed to the car to change diapers and search for blankets. Well, apparently we were quite unprepared for this trip. We didn't have blankets, and we also didn't have bottles. We decided to go ahead and wing it. We found a cloth diaper to sub as a blanket and if the boys got hungry we'd just deal.

The boys ended up being surprisingly calm, and we got to see some gorgeous views. It was a fun and relaxing activity.

We decided to stretch our luck even more and head to The Hub, in Heber, for Dinner. Not having bottles for the boys didn't work out so well. We gave them many foreign foods that night. They had sugar in their cereal because we had no juice, Craig mashed up potatoes from his soup, to try and further occupy them, and we eventually bought them juice and gave them little shots with a medicine syringe. To top it all off, our waitress seemed more interested in getting us out than getting a good a tip. And my long awaited Blondie Sundae did not live up to expectations.

Next time we decide to venture on unprepared we'll at least stop and by some bottles.

July 20,2009: Adventures at Canyon Glen

On my day off I decided to head to a local park just up Provo Canyon. I thought my nephew would enjoy it and we could get some fun pics. Well we were greeted by ambulances, fire trucks and news teams. My nephew's dream come true. As we headed into the park we saw yet another fun little toy. The search and rescue chopper. I snapped some photos of my nephew but told him not to get too close. Well the pilots showed up and let him sit in the captains seat. We then got to watch it take off. Who knew what an event going to the park would be.

P.S. We later found out that a little girl fell into the river at Bridal Veil falls. She got swept down stream and they weren't able to pull her out for 30 minutes. She was life flighted to a local hospital. I just heard that she didn't make it.

May 16, 2009: The Adventures of the Stratton Family Part I

Yesterday Craig and took a little walk up to Bridal Veil Falls. It was beautiful. We started from Canyon Glen park, so the walk wasn't too far. It was a great way to end a very long, and very hard, week at work.

I'm trying to get out and walk everyday, so I can enjoy the gorgeous weather we're having and so I can get some exercise. The little walk made both of us want to go camping, and it made me want to go to Colorado. For some reason the smell of campfire reminds me of Colorado and our family trips to Durango.
