June 28, 2010: The Great Salt Lake

I've lived 30 minutes from Salt Lake my whole life and I have never gone to The Great Salt Lake. Craig hadn't either. After visiting I can see why.



Even though I knew the experience would be on the gross side I mostly wanted to go to see how big it is. It's hard to imagine a lake that is that much bigger than Utah Lake.

It is big




. . .and shallow

It makes your skin sparkle and it collects in deposits all over the shore line.



Here we are floating. I was very nervous about getting in.




The salt made my hair all crunchy. Can you imagine how Craig feels?




We were very happy to get in the shower after this little trip.

June 28. 2010: Authentic Cuisine for Craig

Craig loves Japanese food, and he loves when its very authentic. So when his friend told him about this Asian Market, where we could get some lunch, we had to go.



Craig exclaimed, "I could eat here everyday!"

Here he is showing me how to work a soda type drink that they have in Japan. I guess it isn't carbonated until you hit the tablet down in.





It tasted pretty good.

June 28, 2010: Wondering Around the City

On Monday we went and walked around Salt Lake City.

We stopped at The Gateway.



Then explored some antique shops.




They have some fancy antique stores. Look at this stuff.





This is an actual Gargoyle.

At the really fancy store you had to ring a bell to get in so we just looked outside.

June 27, 2010: The Rio Grande Room

The room we stayed in our first night was the Rio Grande room.

The room looks like a big train car



and the bath tub was in a cave.



Craig and I were excited about this room, but it ended up not being our favorite. Having non-working jets in the tub didn't help either, so the next night we ventured to another room. That way we got twice the experience for one stay.

June 26, 2010: Craig's Birthday Party

Well last year I nearly forgot Craig's birthday so we celebrated it a day late. This year we had plans to go out of town so we celebrated a day early.

We had a pool party again. They're my favorite, and apparently Craig's too. I always wished my birthday was in the summer so my party could take place by the pool.







Of course, there was good food. This year the menu contained Sloppy Joes.





For desert we had Sprite poured over rainbow sherbet and German Chocolate Cake. The wind was blowing so we couldn't light the candles properly. We decided to have my mom light them while we sang and Craig blew out what he could.





Then of course there were the presents. I got Craig some gravel. The boys got him some shorts,- we found a nice pair at a yard sale earlier- rags for his shop and face masks to wear while he's working.




My parents got him this neat popcorn maker.



Happy Birthday Sweetie/Dad! We love you!

We Go Out Walking. . .After Breakfast. . .

These two little stink bugs are so cute as they walk down the street with they're little toys. They love it! And they just take off without a care in the world. Sometimes it makes me a little nervous because one will get so far ahead and the other will get stuck. But we always manage to make it back alive. Plus Craig was there this time to offer some assistance in baby watching.



Little H likes to stop and smell the roses. He investigates everything, and he found a wood chip that we could not leave behind. I showed him that there's a fancy little trunk on his walker he can put it in.



Big H is on the go. He takes off and doesn't look back. You can hardly get him to turn around to go back home.



We had a hard time getting Little H to walk all the way home.



Nowadays the walking toys are getting less and less necessary.
