Continuing the Tradition

On Saturday the 20 Craig and I held a pumpkin party in honor of my Grandpa's Pumpkin Parties-- a family favorite. We didn't have very many pumpkins, and I forgot to tell people to take some when they left, but I think we still enjoyed ourselves.

We had a yummy dinner. Everyone contributed, and I enjoyed everything they brought. Then everyone got dressed up, and we went outside.

I loved my aunts costume!

We first had  to snap a shot of all the cute costumes. My kids made this so much fun. Taking pictures with them lately is like pulling out hair.

After that we went out back and played the dart game. My mom bought the prizes and the balloons, so thanks to her for making such a fun game. My cousin and my aunt brought a jar with candy and we all guessed how much candy was in the jar.

After that Craig started a fire and we roasted marshmallows. It was a pretty fun night.

 I don't know if Craig and I can even hold a candle to what my grandparents did, but at least we all got together and had fun dressing up and visiting.

So of course the boys had to be superheroes this year, and Big H's obsession with Batman made his an obvious choice. The other two were tricky though. Little H loves superman, but the twins have already done superman, and plus there was a way cute baby superman costume. So we chose superman  for the baby. The boys got way into Robin thanks to a series called "Teen Titans", so we got a Robin costume. Then for the last one we chose Spiderman. My mom ordered the costumes and I told her just to order them all in the same size because which superhero the boys are changes daily. Well she ordered the Spiderman one a little smaller. And of course Little H has decided it's his, and I can't convince him otherwise.

The story of My Captain America

I haven't ever really been into Marvel Comics. In fact I didn't really pay that much attention until after I married Craig. But we watched the "Captain America" movie and I developed a mad crush. Not on the actor that plays Captain America. Just on the character himself. So I have to say I'm a bit of a fan now. I think Captain America and Superman are now my two favorite superheroes-- of course Superman is still in the lead, I mean you can't beat nostalgia. After all the two heroes are almost the same person. One is just an alien and has more powers. 

Anyway this led to the decision that Craig should be Captain America, and then I could be his 1940's girlfriend-- or pretty much just a girl from the 40's. I mean who wouldn't want to dress up like a girl from the 40's. I know I've always wanted to-- Rosie the Riveter has been in the back of my head for years. 

So that's what led to our costume decisions this year. I'm really enjoying this years Halloween pics, and I have to say my Captain America is pretty darn cute!
