The boys have been up to some fun adventures lately. First of all here our summer kick of to "fun at the park" pics.
I think this was Baby S's first time on a swing. He loved it! Little M is still terrified, but he'll ask to get on every time we are at a park.
Then there is the start of kick ball season. The boys LOVE, LOVE, LOVE baseball! But they are a little young yet for t-ball. However, Springville has kick ball leagues in their age group. We put their names on a waiting list, and they got in. The only problem is Little M doesn't understand why he can't play.
Then there was our annual trip to the car show. We had lots of fun! I "left" my camera at home, and found it at the very end in my purse. Most the photos came from my cell phone.
This is a Bumblebee car. Or "Bunglebee" according to the boys.
The boys saw Doc Hudson from "Cars"
We thought it was cool that it said Twin H Power. Just like our twin H's :)
and they even saw. . .wait for it. . .THE BATMOBILE!!! Where they excited? You can bet. . .they were completely nonreactive for how cool it was.
Big H kept insisting he needed a Batman suit. I think he wanted to impress "Batman" and he needed a Batman suit to do it. Little H was just slightly impressed. I think Little M was the most excited.
I got upset with Big H for getting upset about not having a suit, and told him he needed to just enjoy the moment. He kept throwing a fit, so I took his Batman Belt away-- Grandma A. bought this for him. I ended up loosing it, and I felt so bad I bought him a new one. And he milked an Iron Man hand out of me. I just feel bad because I think he sees a lot of scary things in this world, and I think these superhero toys help him feel safe. It's a long story, but I can kind of explain it all better in person :).
Now onto Memorial Day Weekend. We planned a weekend trip up to Heber to see Thomas the Tank Engine. Since they charge for everything at A Day Out With Thomas we decided to invest our money in a hotel room, and enjoy the other fun things in Heber.
We started out by visiting the Railroad Station. We had a picnic lunch. . .
Big H put stickers all over his face on the ride up.
. . .and watched Thomas go by a couple times. The boys loved it!
Then we went to Wal-Mart to see if they had anything going on there. The boys were so good for this half of the trip. They shared and talked nicely to each other. They used their manners in the store. I was so impressed. It was like living in a dream. Then Little M threw a massive fit over Thomas toys, the twins threw fits about something else, and Baby S cried and cried because he was hungry. I do have to say the Heber Wal-Mart employees are incredibly nice.
We then headed to the Homestead, my favorite hotel ever!
We had to wait to check in, and Craig got a little upset because things didn't work out with work as well as we had thought. We were ill prepare in a lot of ways. It has been a long, long, long time since we've traveled out of town too-- that's what happens when you're too poor to afford gas, too poor to afford time off and too poor to fix up, or buy, a car to drive out of town. Even though this was just up to Heber we were all so excited to get a chance to finally go some where, but the downside was that we were way out of practice. We packed food so we wouldn't have to eat out as much, but I forgot stuff like milk for the cereal and some sort of light snacks. I also left Baby S's formula at home, so we had to buy some. We left a bunch of other things behind as well. It wasn't the smoothest of traveling trips, but at least we had the funds to buy the things we forgot.
Everything ended up fine, and we got into our Hotel room, finally.
We went for a swim. This was Baby S's first time in a pool! That's a big milestone in my book.
Little M screamed when I went to put him in the pool, and he was a little shy of the water the entire time we were there. The twins loved every second though. I love the pool at The Homestead.
Then we headed back to the room. The boys got all cleaned up. Big H even stood in front of the mirror and brushed his hair-- he is so cute like that :).
Then we went to our favorite Shake Shop, The Dairy Keen. They have a train that goes around the store, and when Thomas is in town they put a toy Thomas on their tracks. Little M loved it, and had to inform as every time Thomas made a round, "LOOK! There's THOMAS!"
After we ate dinner we switched tables so the boys could play with the toys. Little M was tired and threw a fit every time his extra long train derailed. It got kind of old.
We ordered shakes because that's what you do when you're in Heber at the Dairy Keen ;). Baby S was way excited about the shakes!
He also took some sips with a straw.
Little M threw another massive fit when we left and he couldn't take the Thomas train with him. He was just so tired.
We made it back to the hotel and the boys were way excited about the magic bed inside the couch. They started curling up under the mattress pad like it was a sheet.
The next day we packed up, Craig came to pick us up and we walked around the resort a little.
One Day our Baby S will walk, but sadly these legs don't look like they were made for walking. He has big chunky thighs, skinny calves and tiny feet. And he's pretty bow legged. We'll have to get these legs up and ready for some walking here soon.
We hiked up to the top of the crater. They made some changes since the
last time we came here. I can't believe that was 4 years ago.
Big H was so proud of the mums he bought for me he carried them everywhere. Including up the huge staircase that leads to the top of the crater. He dropped them along the way, and Craig had to help him pick them up. Seriously, that kid can be such a doll.
After our fun little walk we headed home.
Memorial Day was spent at my parents house. The boys braved the freezing cold pool-- it's pretty cold every Memorial Day when it comes to swimming, but this year was worse because the heater was broken. That didn't stop the kids though.
Baby S didn't like the water so he sat on the side.
While we were getting ready for lunch Little H jumped in with out a life jacket. His cousin, Nephew Big P, pulled him up and started calling to the adults for help. We ran over and pulled Little H out. He was kind of lethargic, and a little dazed. He was breathing and awake, but pretty tired. We got him all wrapped up and he fell asleep for about an hour or more.
Everyone took turns holding him. . .
. . .and then Big H came up and said he wanted to hold his brother. He took good care of him. Stroked his head and everything.
Next thing we knew Little H was all better and hopping in the pool. With a life jacket of course.
Hope everyone had a fun memorial day!
