Our Family is About to Grow. . .

. . .by two feet!

We're checking into the hospital tomorrow morning to have a baby taken out. That being so I decided to catch up on all my blogging. With all the posts I made I decided to post links to them here in case some got lost in the blogging bulk.

Nephew K's Birthday

Nephew K's Birthday!

I'm sure you've noticed my nephew K joins us on our family outings a lot. We love him to death, and there are reasons we try to give him as many experiences as we can. One of the things I wanted to do was put on a birthday party for him. I talked to my mom about using her pool, asked if she could get the cake and I'd invite some of his friends. She had been thinking of putting a party together too, so we ended up having this fun filled little pool party for him.

He had fun playing in the pool with his friends. They said the weather was supposed to be bad that day, but it ended up being beautiful.

He was the first and last to hit the pinata. He took it out in three swings. The kids didn't seem to care. As soon as the candy came out I think the completely forgot about the pinata.

Little H still wanted a turn though.

The kids had fun playing bingo and winning prizes. When someone would win it was their turn to give K his gift from them.

Little H displaying his prizes. Glasses, and hats, used to be ripped off in annoyance, but they are now one of their favorite toys.

Thanks to the wind we struggled to light the candles. And thanks to the presents the little boy, who asks at everybody's birthday if he can blow out the candles, had no interest in his cake. We had almost finished the Happy Birthday song, and I turned around to find K was the farthest away from the cake. I told him to get over there and blow out the candles, but the wind had already done it for him.

I kept the boys up, so they could enjoy some cake. They didn't seem to happy about it at first, but I think they forgave me.

Happy 6th Birthday K!

Meeting Dad at the Splash Park!

I decided to take the boys down to the splash park in Highland again just for some last summer fun. We had a doctor's appointment that day so we had to be in AF anyway, and it was a Tuesday so we also wanted to make a trip to Thanksgiving Point's gardens to take part in their $2.00 Tuesday deal in August.

We were going to meet Craig for some lunch at the splash park, play around till the doctor appointment and then head to Thanksgiving Point. Our plans were cut short, however, when Craig realized he forgot his wallet. So we scrounged up some money to buy a Little Ceasar's Pizza, played at the park, went to the doctor and then went home.

Big H loved the water.

Little H was interested in this grate.

Lunch time.

Little H loved watching all the people. He looked like a young prince observing his kingdom. Here he is dressed in his his finest hooded towel cloak, eating his pizza and mingling with his subjects.

The little prince needs some assistance with his bib. Wouldn't want to spoil that royal t-shirt of his.

We ended up having a fun filled day. I'm glad I was able to get the boys out for a fun little activity.

It's That Time of Year!

OK, so we still have a while until Halloween, but since my Grandpa's Pumpkin Party seems to be happening in September now- and with the little bundle coming to us soon- I decided to get a start on our costumes

Little H is our lion.

The baby will be our tiger

And Big H will be our bear

I wasn't sure if making them myself would save us money this year, so Craig started scouting things out on the internet and we started checking DI to see if they had sufficient supplies. I guess I should never doubt DI. They always manage to have what I need. We found just the right things for a lion and a tiger- they even had a tigger outfit that was close to the baby's size. Craig found a great deal on the bear costume so we just ordered that one.

There is still work to be done, but they looked so cute all dressed up I had to snap some pics.

Here's a pic of Big H in the lion costume just for fun! For a minute we couldn't decided who should be what, but I decided Little H fit the lion better.

Why is it Always Big H?

For some reason Big H always ends up getting hurt. Sure it happens to his brother from time to time, but for some reason the majority of the time it's Big H that ends up injured. Not only do his injuries seem to happen more frequently, but he always ends up bleeding. Little H can get away with a small bump or a little scratch. But Big H has to go all out and leave Mom and Dad searching his body for the culprit that is producing the blood.

Of course, his horrid injuries aren't always all his fault.

Just the other day he received this wound from a car door handle.

It might have turned out better if mom had been smarter about how she took the pinched finger out. But I ended up making a huge mess of it and the owner of the car drove away with a tiny piece of Big H.

He did not like having to wear a band-aid on that finger.

Boy was I glad that it didn't take long for Craig to get home. Big H was heartbroken, and he is a bit of a Daddy's boy so I knew Craig would be able to make him feel better.

Yummies in Our Tummies!

There was a local frozen custard shop in town called Yummies, and it was the closest thing we could find to a ma and pop shake shop around here. We were sad to see it move out of town and down to the Provo mall. Then we learned they opened up a small express booth for the summer. So we took the boys, met grandma and grandpa and we all enjoyed a night of some tasty custard.

Craig and I were caught of guard by the "Cash or Check Only" sign, so I had to run to the gas station next door and buy something so we could get some cash back. I bought a Dr. Pepper, and then grabbed some cups so I could divvy it out to the children who would undoubtedly ask for some. Can you believe they charged me for the cups?

P.S. This was supposed to make it into the last post, but I totally forgot to put it there.

In the Good Old Summertime. . .

. . .we picnicked up Hobble Creek Canyon.

Hey good lookin'! What you got cookin'?

. . .we went down to the river to pray. Well, creek and we went to play. And we actually didn't play because the boys were kind of grumpy.

Look Ma! No hands!

Someone wasn't happy about something.

Corn husk on the toe anyone?

. . .we ate!

. . .we held another yard sale. Not nearly as successful as the first. Though it was a success in the fact that we no longer have all that junk in our house. Off to DI it went. Except for this couch. It went to Savers.

A Mom Has Braggin Rights Right?

Raising these two boys is the best. I might not always realize it, but it is. I love watching two little boys grow up at the same time and being shocked at how identical is only skin deep.

Little H has so much spunk, and he's just so happy with life. He knows what he wants and he takes it. Even if that means dragging a blanket twice his size around the house.

He is so social, and loves to say hi to people. He is also very intrigued by the neighbor kids playing outside, and can't wait for the day that he can join in.

Big H just has such a sweet innocent spirit. Both boys are sweet, but he's sweet in his own way. He has such a tender heart that he cries when I yell at his brother but not at him. He loves animals and he loves picking flowers. Can it get any sweeter then that? I love watching the world through his eyes.

I guess he wants to make his mouth easier to open ;)

Both boys were sick last weekend and, for the first time ever, we took them to the ER. Their fever was hovering around 102 and 103- they've never had fevers until this summer. They were miserable and they were making us miserable.

We figured it was viral and there was probably nothing the docs could do, but we thought maybe they could give us some fresh ideas because nothing we were doing was working.

Turns out our med dosage was way off, and a chart from the ER put us right on. The boys were happy once again now that they had the proper amount of pain relief for their age and weight.

Even as sick boys they tolerated their overstuffed bums. OK I just wanted an excuse to put these up here because they just crack me up ;)

How do you Keep two 1 Year Olds Dry. . .

. . .when there is an irrigation ditch in front of your house?

Yes it finally happened one of the boys fell into the ditch out front while it was full of irrigation water. Luckily Daddy was right there to pull him out.

. . .when your house is the gathering spot for puddles?

When the rain storm is just too good to not sit outside and watch?
