Silver Lake Hike

In celebration of completing summer semester I wanted to go out for a day of hiking. Well, since finding an entire day to devote to anything around here is impossible, it turned into an afternoon of hiking. And we ended up only going on half the hike. But it took us to a new and beautiful place.

We chose the Silver Lake Hike. We took the turn off for Tibble Fork, a place we had never been before. We drove 3.2 miles on a dirt road-- I was proud of myself because I'm not the best off road-er. And we ended up at Silver Lake Reservoir. We then prepared for a beautiful hike up to Silver Lake. The description of the hike promised beautiful scenery like you would see in Yosemite. I've never been to Yosemite but the scenery was indeed beautiful.

The hike is a total of 4.4 miles. We made it halfway, for fear of loosing daylight, but we loved what we saw.

On the way back we enjoyed some of the scenery we missed.

We explored Silver Lake Reservoir a little.

Then we drove down to Tibble Fork Reservoir-- a small lake we spotted on the way up.

The boys had fun playing on the terribly smelly, and muddy, shores.

The twins were little Muddy Buddies by the end.

Here's Baby S playing with the wagon wheels. He loves wheels.

Then we found a spot over by the river that had more rock and less mud. Apparently that's where we should have been playing.

We tried to wash the boys up here, but we were ill prepared for this type of adventure. The water was freezing, and the boys didn't have much patience for getting cleaned up. We had no towels or anything to help with the mess. It was crazy. It was smelly. And it was dirty.

Here's Little H trying to wash is pants. So cute!

Then we headed home. Baby S is a big fan of Tinkerbell.

After getting back to Springville we decided to drive around a bit more so the boys would stay asleep. The fires created this interesting view.

  • That concluded our adventurous hiking day. I can't wait to go back and finish the hike.
